John Zaccaro Jr. grew up in the Bronx and spent more than 14 years in local public service, including as a housing organizer and as the Bronx director of intergovernmental affairs for the city schools chancellor, before becoming chief of staff to a City Council member, per the Assembly's member page. He has pushed for stronger enforcement against illegal cannabis sales, including revoking the tobacco, liquor or lottery licenses of businesses that sell it, per the same source.
