About the Naples Airport Authority
The authority operates and maintains the City of Naples Municipal Airport, a general aviation airport in western Collier County, or any other Collier County airport it contracts to operate. It hires an executive director who serves as chief operating officer, chief financial officer and board secretary. The airport was built in 1943 as an Army Air Corps base, is owned by the City of Naples and has been leased to the authority since 1969 under a 99-year lease, per the authority's fiscal year 2026 budget.
Beginning with the 2026 general election the authority has five members: seats 1, 2 and 3 for City of Naples residents and seats 4 and 5 for Collier County residents who live outside Naples. All are elected by Collier County voters countywide, per the 2026 state bill that set up the elected board. Odd-numbered seats such as Seat 5 serve four-year terms, and each member must have at least five years in financial management, small business operations or aerospace, per the same bill.
The authority pays for itself from aviation fuel sales and airport user fees, and no general taxes such as property or sales taxes directly support it, per its fiscal year 2026 budget. This is the first year the board's seats are elected by voters.
Believes the Airport should be comprised of people from the entire county
Committed to listening to residents, making informed decisions, and prioritizing safety
