Sylvia Soto is the Republican candidate for Texas House District 124. She has worked for decades as a bilingual math and science teacher and has served as an election judge for more than ten years, per her campaign site. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology, three master's degrees in business and a master's degree in bilingual education.

Biography

Josey Garcia is the Democratic incumbent for Texas House District 124 in West San Antonio, serving since 2023. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 16, served 20 years with deployments to Africa, Iraq, and Germany, and retired from Lackland Air Force Base in 2014, becoming the first active-duty woman veteran to serve in the Texas House, according to her official biography. She later worked as a dental technician and community advocate and co-founded the nonprofit Uniting America Outreach in 2020.
