Julia Salazar is a sitting member for the district, per the State Senate's member directory. Salazar worked as a community organizer with Jews for Racial and Economic Justice on criminal justice and police accountability issues before her 2018 election, per her official Senate page. She now chairs the Senate Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction and was lead sponsor of the HALT Solitary Confinement Act, per the same source.
