About the Coos County Board of Commissioners

The three-member board is the county's executive branch under state law (RSA 28). Its members are part-time elected officials responsible for the overall supervision, custody and care of all county departments, buildings and land, with budget oversight of all county spending. They prepare the annual county budget with department heads and send it to the County Convention, the 10-member group of elected state representatives, for final approval, per the county. Coos also runs two nursing facilities, a county nursing hospital in West Stewartstown and a home in Berlin, per the county commissioners' minutes.

The board has three commissioners, one for each of Districts 1, 2 and 3. The county says commissioners are elected by the voters of the district each is assigned to, so only District 3 voters vote on this seat.

Raymond Gorman of Colebrook, the board's vice chair, holds District 3, per the county's commissioners page, and is on the ballot as Ray Gorman.
