Kauanoe Batangan is the incumbent Kahului councilmember, appointed to fill the term of the late Councilmember Tasha Kama, and chair of the council's Government Relations, Ethics and Transparency Committee, per his Civil Beat Q&A; previously a state DOT deputy director and a county Office of Recovery manager after the 2023 wildfires, per his campaign site.
