Biography

Bass is the incumbent Mayor of Los Angeles and the first woman elected to the office, and she previously served as Speaker of the California State Assembly, the first Black woman in U.S. history to lead a state legislative body, and as a member of Congress, per the campaign site. Before her political career she worked as a community organizer in South Los Angeles and as a nurse in a neonatal intensive care unit, per the campaign site.
