Biography

Ugarte was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and brought to Los Angeles as a toddler, growing up in a working class household in South Los Angeles and attending its public schools, per the campaign site. He worked on wage advocacy for the Los Angeles Federation of Labor and the citywide minimum wage campaign, served as a special aide in the Assembly Speaker's office, and has worked in a Los Angeles City Council office since 2013 on food access, parks funding and community safety programs, per the campaign site.
