LaMonica R. McIver is the sitting U.S. Representative for this district, elected in a September 2024 special election to complete the late Rep. Donald Payne Jr.'s term as the first Black woman to represent the district, per her campaign site. In 2018 she became the youngest woman elected to the Newark Municipal Council, later serving as Council President, after a career in education administration and as a PSE&G public affairs manager.

Carmen Bucco
Republican
Carmen Bucco is a tailor and owner of the custom-clothing business Bucco Couture and a former Belleville school board member, per the New Jersey Globe. He grew up in foster care and founded the children's charity Bucco's Rising Stars, per his campaign site. He was the nominee against McIver in both 2024 races and was unopposed in the June nomination.
