Biography
LaMonica R. McIver is the sitting U.S. Representative for this district, elected in a September 2024 special election to complete the late Rep. Donald Payne Jr.'s term as the first Black woman to represent the district, per her campaign site. In 2018 she became the youngest woman elected to the Newark Municipal Council, later serving as Council President, after a career in education administration and as a PSE&G public affairs manager.
