John Zerga won the Republican nomination with 4,451 votes (45.81 percent) over Undersheriff Mike Hutchison (3,067 votes, 31.57 percent), Eric S. Murphy (1,541, 15.86 percent) and Ross H. Giles (214, 2.20 percent) in the August 18 primary, per the Fremont County Clerk's official primary abstract. Incumbent Sheriff Ryan Lee did not file for re-election. No Democrat or independent filed, so Zerga is unopposed on the November 3 ballot.

Biography

John Zerga is a Fremont County Sheriff's Office lieutenant with more than 20 years of service to the county, per his campaign site. He is a Lander Valley High School graduate who completed the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in 1999 and has served as a patrol deputy, detective sergeant and patrol sergeant, per his campaign site.
