Biography

Ela Chapin is a Democratic candidate for Vermont House of Representatives in the Washington-5 District, representing East Montpelier and Middlesex, a seat she has held since being elected in 2022. She previously directed the Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program from 2006 to 2021 and served for eight years on the Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Board and seven years on the board of Community Capital of Vermont, per her campaign site. She holds a master's degree in policy and planning from Tufts University and a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Brown University.
