Mike Smith is the sitting Utah County Sheriff, per his campaign site. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1989 and began his law enforcement career with the Pleasant Grove Police Department in 1994, serving as patrol officer, motor officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain before becoming Sheriff, per his campaign site. He also served as an internal affairs officer and on a joint criminal apprehension team with the U.S. Marshals, per his campaign site.
