Karen Kwan holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy from the University of Utah, per the caucus site. She taught psychology at Salt Lake Community College, has served in the Utah Legislature since 2016 in the House and since 2023 in the Senate representing District 12, and is the first Chinese American to serve in the Utah Legislature, per the caucus site.
