Michelle Winder is a lifelong Fort Worth native who served in the U.S. Army National Guard and spent 31 years with the Santa Fe Railroad, including leadership roles in the United Transportation Union, before retiring in 2024, according to her campaign website. She is the Democratic nominee for Texas House District 99, running against Republican incumbent Charlie Geren.

Charlie Geren is the Republican incumbent for Texas House District 99 in Tarrant County, a Fort Worth-area restaurant owner and rancher who has served in the House since 2000. He previously served on the Texas Water Development Board from 1994 to 2000, chairing the Texas Resource Finance Authority for five of those years, and worked as a Deputy U.S. Marshal from 1981 to 1990, according to his official biography.
