March 3 primary result: Incumbent Dianne Hensley won the Republican nomination outright over Sterling Shepperd, Adriana Bost and Anthony Luevanos, 56.7% to 32.9%/5.8%/4.5%, per KWTX. No Democrat filed, so she is the only candidate on the November 3 ballot (Texas prints unopposed nominees).

What this office does

Justice of the peace. Justices of the peace handle the lowest-level court matters: small claims, evictions, traffic and minor criminal cases, and, in some states, marriages and inquests. The office is part of the judiciary, so candidates are limited in what they may promise.
