Biography

Brian M. Middleton is the sitting Fort Bend County district attorney, elected in 2018 as the county's first African-American DA, per the county's elected officials roster. Named 2022 Texas Prosecutor of the Year by the State Bar of Texas and the state prosecutors' association and its 2026 president-elect, he is a certified Texas peace officer who created the county's first Civil Rights and Public Integrity divisions, per his campaign site.

Shawn McDonald is a Sugar Land municipal court judge and criminal defense attorney, board certified in criminal law, per his campaign site. He began his career as a felony prosecutor in Henderson County, served in the Fort Bend County DA's office starting in 2004, opened his own Sugar Land defense practice in 2006, and was appointed a special prosecutor in the Sandra Bland case. He holds degrees from UNC Charlotte and St. Mary's University School of Law.
