Shelby Slawson is the Republican incumbent for Texas House District 59, representing Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, and Hood counties. She is an attorney and small business owner based in Stephenville who earned a BA summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas and a JD from the University of Texas at Austin, according to her official biography, and was the first freshman since 1985 to serve on the House Calendars Committee.
