About the Iredell Soil and Water Conservation District

The district encourages wise use and management of Iredell County's natural resources through planning, technical expertise and state and federal programs, including cost-share help and an agricultural water resources assistance program administered with the county.

A five-member Board of Supervisors governs the district: three are elected by county voters to four-year staggered terms on a nonpartisan basis, and two are appointed by the state Soil and Water Conservation Commission, per the county's board page. The board meets the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m. at 444 Bristol Drive, Statesville. There is no primary, and the top two vote-getters win four-year terms beginning the first Monday in December, per state law (G.S. 139-6). In 2026 two elected seats are up, per the North Carolina Division of Soil and Water Conservation.

The county's board page lists Tracy Jenkins, Cierra Bradford and Dennis Leamon as the elected supervisors. The county's November 3, 2026 overseas-voter election notice lists three names for the seat: David (Dave) Fago, Herman (H. William) Compton, Jr. and Cierra Bradford.
