Jones won a six-candidate March 3, 2026 Democratic primary (unofficial county-summed NCSBE precinct results: Evans 12,436 votes/26.9%, Jones 7,455/16.1%, ahead of Toni Stewart, Mario Benavente, sitting commissioner Marshall Faircloth and William Wesley); no second primary was required. Republicans Greg West and Ron Ross both filed and face no primary opposition. All four advance to the November 3, 2026 ballot for the two seats.
