Al Whitesides has served on the board since 2016 as the county's first African-American commissioner, per the county's official roster. A retired banker, he co-founded the student group A-SCORE, which helped desegregate Asheville facilities beginning in 1960, per Blue Ridge Public Radio. No campaign website was found as of September 8, 2026.
