About the Camden County Board of Commissioners

The board has broad legislative and executive functions. Its main duty is adopting the annual budget for county services and agencies across Camden County's 37 municipalities. Other areas include law enforcement, welfare, education, roads and economic development, per the county's board page. It holds monthly meetings in different locations around the county.

The board has seven commissioners, a title that replaced freeholders under a 2020 state law. They serve staggered three-year terms and all seven are elected countywide, at large, so every Camden County voter votes on these seats. Two seats are up in 2026: those held by Louis Cappelli, Jr. and Jonathan L. Young, Sr., whose terms run from January 2024 through December 2026, per the county's board page.

Cappelli and Young are both seeking new three-year terms, per NJ Globe.
