About the Lancaster County Treasurer

Under Nebraska law the treasurer collects the property taxes that are distributed to schools, fire districts, cities, villages and other local governments. With the state Department of Motor Vehicles, the office also oversees more than 300,000 motor vehicle registrations and titles, per the county's treasurer page.

There is one elected treasurer, and every Lancaster County voter votes on the office. The term is four years, per the Beatrice Daily Sun.
