Lynch has served as Newton County Prosecuting Attorney since appointment by Governor Mike Parson on May 1, 2020, per the campaign site. Before that appointment, Lynch served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Jasper County. Lynch is a graduate of Joplin High School, Missouri Southern State University and the University of Missouri School of Law, and was born and raised in Newton County.
