Lewis serves as State Representative for the 7th Middlesex District, representing Ashland and part of Framingham, and is House Chair of the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, per his campaign site. He was first elected in November 2016 and is serving his fifth term, and previously co-chaired the Massachusetts House Progressive Caucus from 2019 to 2026, per the site. He holds dual bachelor's degrees in political science and international studies from the University of Utah (2007) and a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary (2010), per the site. From 2010 to 2014 he worked as assistant minister for religious education and social justice at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills, and in 2011 he co-founded OUT MetroWest, an LGBTQ youth organization serving the MetroWest region, per the site.
