Xiarhos serves as State Representative for the 5th Barnstable District, first elected on November 3, 2020, and is now in his third term, per his campaign site. He spent four decades with the Yarmouth Police Department, beginning as a seasonal officer in 1979 and advancing through the ranks of detective, sergeant, lieutenant and deputy chief before retiring in December 2019, per the site. He holds degrees from Anna Maria College, Northeastern University and Cape Cod Community College in criminal justice and law enforcement, and completed the Babson College command training course and an FBI law enforcement executive development seminar, per the site. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and holds ranking positions on committees covering public safety, emergency management and mental health and substance abuse, per the site. He founded Big Nick's Ride for the Fallen, a charitable motorcycle ride on Cape Cod, and serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and Independence House, a domestic violence prevention organization, per the site.
