Biography

Ryan Fecteau is the sitting Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives, serving his fifth nonconsecutive term representing part of Biddeford, per the campaign site. He is the first person to serve nonconsecutive terms as Speaker since 1966 and, during his first term as Speaker, was the youngest presiding officer in the United States and the first openly gay Speaker in Maine's history, per the campaign site. He has chaired the Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee and served a term as Assistant Majority Leader, per the campaign site. He graduated from the Catholic University of America and is the son and grandson of French-Canadian immigrants and the first in his family to graduate from college, per the campaign site. He has sponsored legislation on career and technical education funding, per the campaign site.
