Dwayne Forrest Depp won a three-way May 19, 2026 Democratic primary with 5,812 votes (67.34%), ahead of Brandon Muravchick (2,123, 24.60%) and Jonathan Presley (696, 8.06%), per the Franklin County Clerk's official cumulative primary results. Logan Curry won the Republican primary with 2,320 votes (63.37%) over Stephen Sutton (1,341, 36.63%), per the same results. Depp and Curry meet in the November 3, 2026 general election, per the State Journal.

Dwayne Forrest Depp has served in Kentucky law enforcement for more than 30 years, beginning his career with the Kentucky State Police and rising to post commander before retiring in 2009, according to Spectrum News 1. He was sworn in as Franklin County Sheriff in 2025 after serving as chief deputy, per the county's official site, and became the first Black sheriff to serve in the role. Depp is the Democratic nominee on the November 3, 2026 ballot. No campaign website was found as of September 8, 2026.
