About the Sarasota County Charter Review Board

The board reviews the Sarasota County Charter and recommends changes to improve county government. When its recommendations are approved by the required board vote, they go to county voters in a referendum, per section 2.8 of the county charter. It is a charter body, not the County Commission.

The board has ten members, two from each of the five county commission districts, who serve staggered four-year terms without pay. Even though members come from districts, they are elected countywide: every Sarasota County voter votes on the seat at the general election, per section 2.8A of the charter.
