About this race

November-only race: this Soil and Water Conservation District seat was not on the August 18 primary ballot (it is absent from the Supervisor of Elections' official primary results) and is decided at the November 3, 2026 general election. The Supervisor of Elections posted a Group 3 candidate-withdrawal notice before the primary; which candidacy it affects has not been confirmed here.

About the Palm Beach Soil and Water Conservation District

The district runs water-saving and conservation programs; it does not regulate land use or levy taxes. Its programs include free irrigation evaluations for growers (the Mobile Irrigation Lab), free irrigation upgrades for plant nurseries, an irrigation efficiency program with the City of West Palm Beach, monitoring of county-owned farmland in the Agricultural Reserve, and classroom and teacher programs on wetlands and agriculture, per the district and a state-commissioned performance review.

Five supervisors serve 4-year terms and are unpaid, per section 582.19 of the Florida Statutes. State law requires a supervisor to live in the district and to have a connection to agriculture. The district took in about $498,000 in fiscal year 2022-23, from grants and contracts, per the performance review.

This is an open seat: Mark Sodders holds Group 3 through January 2027, per the district's supervisors page, and is not among the three qualified candidates.
