Tam has served on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors since being elected in November 2022, per the campaign site. Before that, Tam spent 30 years as a water resources planning manager at the East Bay Municipal Utility District and served as Alameda's vice mayor and city council member, per the campaign site. Tam holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from UC Berkeley, per the campaign site.
