Democratic candidate Drew Arredondo ended his run in April 2026, per Lagniappe (a state constitutional bar on paid agency employees seeking office within that agency); whether a Democrat prints in November is unconfirmed until the probate judge posts the general-election ballot. May 19 Republican primary official result (first round, no majority): John "Tater" Harris 13,592 votes (47.41 percent), Brett Gaar 8,263 (28.82 percent) and Tracey Gambill 6,816 (23.77 percent, eliminated), per Baldwin County's official primary results; Harris and Gaar advanced to a runoff. June 16 runoff official result: Harris won the Democratic nomination over Gaar, 10,731 votes (54.83 percent) to 8,842 (45.17 percent), per Baldwin County's official results. Incumbent commissioner Charles "Skip" Gruber did not seek re-election. Drew Arredondo was unopposed. Harris and Arredondo meet on the November 3 ballot.
