About this measure

How it reached the ballot

Colorado initiatives - constitutional or statutory - need signatures equal to 5 percent of the votes cast for secretary of state at the previous general election (124,238 for the 2023-2026 cycle), and constitutional initiatives additionally need signatures from 2 percent of registered voters in each of the state's 35 senate districts. The Legislature refers statutes by majority vote and constitutional amendments by a two-thirds vote of each chamber. Most measures pass by simple majority, but any measure that adds language to the constitution requires 55 percent approval.
