Statewide Amendment 1: Lieutenant governor vacancies, legislative salaries and legislative travel spending

Constitutional amendment (legislative referral)

Supports filling a lieutenant governor vacancy that occurs in the first two years of a term by election, letting the Legislature set the pay of the lieutenant governor and legislative officers, and requiring a legislative officer to approve legislative travel spending.

A no vote

Keeps the current constitutional rules on lieutenant governor vacancies, salaries and legislative travel spending.

Statewide Amendment 2: Process for consolidating county school systems

Supports creating a constitutional process, with a published State Board of Education impact study and a protest procedure, for merging two or more neighboring county school systems.

Keeps current law, which has no constitutional consolidation process for county school systems.

Statewide Amendment 3: Daily Pledge of Allegiance and student-led prayer policies in public schools

A yes vote

Supports requiring local school boards to adopt policies for a daily Pledge of Allegiance in every public K-12 school and a policy authorizing student-initiated, student-led prayer.

A no vote

Leaves current law on the pledge and school prayer unchanged.

About these measures

Four statewide constitutional amendments appear on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot in the language certified by the Secretary of State on August 26, 2026. Each passes with a simple majority of votes cast on the amendment. Counties listed in the certification also vote on local constitutional amendments (senior property tax exemptions, probate judge equity jurisdiction and similar county-only questions) that appear only on that county's ballot.
