Biography

William Lawrence is the Democratic nominee for this district, a community organizer, a co-founder of the climate group Sunrise Movement, and coordinator of the MI Rent Is Too Damn High coalition, per Michigan Advance. He took about 43% of the August 4 Democratic vote in a three-way field, a race the Associated Press called that night. Raised in Lansing, he also co-founded the Mid-Michigan Tenant Resource Center and is endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, per his campaign site. His signature proposal is a 12-month federal moratorium on new hyperscale data centers.
