Johnson is an elected member of the Haverhill Town Council, where she was the first African American woman elected in 2021 and is serving her third term, per the campaign site. She previously served as executive director of Northwest Community Consortium Inc., leading community revitalization efforts, per the campaign site. She holds a business administration degree from Northwood University, a master's in organizational leadership and nonprofit management from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and a doctorate in public policy and administration from Walden University, per the campaign site.
