Susanne Shore, Nebraska's former First Lady for eight years, earlier spent seven years working within university residence hall systems while paying her own way through school, per her campaign site. As First Lady she worked with lawmakers from both parties to launch Bring Up Nebraska, an initiative that reduced the number of children entering foster care, per the same source.
