Biography
Rashida Tlaib is the sitting U.S. Representative for this district; she was the first Muslim woman elected to the Michigan Legislature and the first Palestinian-American woman to serve in Congress, per Michigan Advance. Raised in Southwest Detroit as the eldest of 14 children, she says she has secured more than $68 million in direct federal funding for local communities, per her campaign site.
