Laurie Osher is the sitting Maine state representative for Orono (House District 25) and a small-business owner and soil scientist, per the campaign site. She earned a PhD in Soil Science from UC Berkeley after research work including with the USDA Forest Service, and later founded Osher Environment Systems, an energy-efficiency consulting business, per the campaign site. She moved to Orono in 1999 for a faculty position at the University of Maine, per the campaign site. Since her election in 2020 she has served on the Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry Committee and was lead sponsor of LD 937 on carbon storage in Maine soils, per the campaign site. She also sponsored LD 1767 supporting local meat processing infrastructure, per the campaign site.
