Greg Steube enlisted in the U.S. Army while attending law school at the University of Florida and served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, including as chief of detainee operations in Iraq in 2006 and 2007, per his official House biography. Before Congress he spent six years in the Florida House of Representatives and two years in the Florida Senate, and that biography describes him as serving his fourth term representing a district covering Sarasota County, Charlotte County and part of Lee County. He sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, per the same biography.
