Parkinson is a public educator of 25 years and an East Hartford Town Councilor, chairing the Tax Policy and Real Estate committees, per her Our Revolution candidate page. She won the Democratic nomination for the open 10th House District seat in the August 11 primary, after longtime Rep. Henry Genga chose not to seek reelection, per CT Mirror.
