Banfield has practiced law in Livingston County for over 25 years and is a trained mediator, per the campaign site. Banfield formed Banfield Couling Law and Mediation with a law partner, a firm voted Livingston's Best Law Firm in 2021, and holds a law degree from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. Banfield serves on the boards of the City of Brighton Downtown Development Authority, Livingston County United Way and the Family Law Council for the State Bar of Michigan.
