Biography

Sharp retired in February 2026 after 30 years as a judge on the 4th Judicial District Court, serving Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes, per KTVE. His tenure included creating Night Court in Monroe City Court and later expanding it into the district court, and he served as Chief Judge of the district in 2007 and 2008, per the same source. Before the bench, he worked as a federal judicial law clerk, Monroe City Prosecutor, Monroe City Attorney, and general counsel for the Monroe City School Board, and holds a 1986 bachelor's degree from Southern University, a 1989 law degree from Southern University Law Center, and a 1990 LL.M. from Emory University School of Law, per KTVE. After retiring from the bench, he announced his candidacy for district attorney of the 4th Judicial District, per Monroe Free Press.
